Any reason the first row of seats have to be occupied in order for the plane to take off?

I was taking a Jetblue flight and the captain requested three volunteers to sit in the front seats in order for the plane to takeoff. After takeoff, they could return to their seats. Any reason for this?Any reason the first row of seats have to be occupied in order for the plane to take off?My best guess would most likely be for weight and balance purposes.

In order for all the weight to be in the right places for takeoff the plane must be loaded a certain way. There are times when you need to move passengers or food service carts from one zone to the next in order to get the weight and balance right for takeoff. As the plane flies and burns fuel the weight and balance generally shifts so that for landing it is not as critical as for takeoff, but there have been instances where we have had to move passengers for the takeoff and the landing but in cruise they could sit where ever they wanted.Any reason the first row of seats have to be occupied in order for the plane to take off?
That's weird I know they try to have people in the rows with the emergency exits. But it doesn't make sense why they wouldn't keep them there in case of and emergency. I'm assuming the first row had an emergency exit and that's why they put them there.Any reason the first row of seats have to be occupied in order for the plane to take off?Good, accurate answer by Dunphy M. You're not going to get any better one, so just give him his points! As for you other two, Kristus4 and Alaqmar, why don't you stop your guessing and your B.S.ing!!.......The man has asked a question, and wants an answer by somebody who knows what they're talking about......You don't get any food stamps or free movie tickets for the points you get here on Yahoo...you don't get anything!.....only the satisfaction of offering your KNOWLEDGE to someone who doesn't have it!..........not your IGNORANCE; your KNOWLEDGE.......ya got it?Any reason the first row of seats have to be occupied in order for the plane to take off?
Either for weight and balance purposes or so they could open the 2 forward emergency exits in the event the F/As needed help or couldnt get them open.Any reason the first row of seats have to be occupied in order for the plane to take off?coz the plane requires a load in front of its fuselage , if somebody sits behind the plane , the plane wouldnt take off , the back part of the plane wouldnt get higher in the air fro take off , thats why this process aplies
