I am fairly sure that a child travelling alone has the same baggage rules as an adult. That is 20kgs of free baggage alowance to check in as well as 7kgs carry on.
Its even on the Qantas website:
"Children travelling alone are entitled to the full adult baggage allowance for the class of fare in which they are travelling if they are paying at least 50% of the adult fare."
