How do you deal with long trips on a plane?

I am once again on my way to China, on a company paid business trip. I am claustrophobic, and tall. It pure torture to put me on a plane for 13 hours. It usually takes two shots and a pint of beer to get me on one of those 鈥榮ardine cans鈥?



The doctor prescribed temazapan. I have my suduku, and my noise canceling headphones. But that is about it. What do you do?How do you deal with long trips on a plane?I take water and my own snack food (my favorites are licorice, swedish fish, beef jerky). I usually have at least one book, plus sudoku, and an ipod. I deal with it with distractions. Lots and lots of distractions.



And it gets MUCH easier if you can somehow finagle a cabin upgrade. I'm totally willing to use miles for a cabin upgrade on that long of a flight.How do you deal with long trips on a plane?I generally do a couple of hours of Tai Chi, I am so relaxed, I now fall asleep during long flights. Before I had the white knuckle syndrome.
