My laptop has no battery, and the only way to use it is to plug it into a wall output thing. I am bringing it on a plane, and I have heard that sometimes the security people open and ask if it is working. Will they not let me on the airplane and take away my laptop? There are only two times that I recall when I have been asked to turn it on - and both of those instances were long ago, in the early 90s. When they look at the image in the x-ray scanner, and see that everything is ordinary, they will not care at all.
I assume that you have the cord for it. If they did want you to turn it on, then you would just have to tell them you need the cord and a plug, and then you could do that.
