Samurai suzuki only tops out at 40 mph, its a sticks shift and it boggs down when shifting in all the gears?

suzuki samurai boogs down and tops out at only 40mph help!!!Samurai suzuki only tops out at 40 mph, its a sticks shift and it boggs down when shifting in all the gears?
It would help to know if this happened suddenly or if it was a gradual change. Two possibilities come to mind, especially since you describe it as bogging down rather than shaking horribly when you try to go faster.

The first is timing. If the timing belt or chain has jumped one notch it will severely limit the power. It would have been a very sudden change - one day it was normal and the next it was not - and it would now be hard to start and hard to keep running.

The second is a serious exhaust restriction, usually from a damaged catalytic converter. In that case it would have come on more gradually, would start and idle okay, but would not develop power. This sounds more like the description. The definitive test is to loosen the bolts that attach the exhaust system to the exhaust manifold (the collector fitting) so there is a large gap, and either duct tape the exhaust hose of a shop vac to the tailpipe or try blowing into the tailpipe. The shop vac should produce a loud and powerful flow of air from the gap, or if you blow into it you should not feel any significant back pressure. (Now wash the black ring from your face.) An exhaust as badly restricted as you describe will feel like blowing through a large drinking straw.Samurai suzuki only tops out at 40 mph, its a sticks shift and it boggs down when shifting in all the gears?
Could be quite a few different things causing your problem. Catalytic converter, maybe. Fuel filter starting to get clogged, maybe. Carb base loose, sucking in air, maybe. Just needs a tune up, maybe. All of the above, maybe! None of the above, maybe!! You may have to bite the bullet and take it to a garage or to someone who can check it out for you. It's probably not a real big expensive fix.

Good luck.
