I'm currently working on a 1987 Suzuki Samurai, the engine runs pretty well with the work I've given it, But the 3rd cylinder isn't firing. The pressure test showed that it is has good compression, And the distributor is working properly. As are the wires (Sparking well). I've used various fuel cleaners and replaced the fuel filter, and fuel pump. I've done just about everything aside from taking the engine apart.. And I'm looking for a solution that can be used without doing so. Any ideas would help. This is looking to be my only vehicle soon, so I need to get it fixed if at all possible. Thanks.1987 Suzuki Samurai 3rd cylinder not firing. HELP.?
Sounds like it could be in the valve train or the mechanics of the crankshaft itself. Take the valve cover off first and look for anything loose or broken. You could have a broken or worn lobe on the camshaft or the base of the distributor, both are hard to see with the naked eye. You need to see if the crankshaft is turning all the cylinders, the third cylinder may have a broken rod, not at all unheard of. You may have to bite the bullet and take it somewhere and have it checked out. Once the problem is diagnosed it may not be hard to fix.
Good luck!1987 Suzuki Samurai 3rd cylinder not firing. HELP.?
Jared, I think you need to look for the valve clearance of the 3 cyc. There is nothing else to check if the compression and spark are OK.!
