Why it is problematic when some bird gets near to engine of any air-plane?

I have heard in news that some plane got problem due to birds flying near the airport area. Why it is problematic when some bird gets near to engine of any air-plane?when a plane is takin off or landing and if its hit by a bird(not the bird hitting the plane) but most of the time the bird gets sucked into the engine on the wings!!....the engine sucks the air and lets out the other end like a rocket....when a bird is sucked in,the engine is spoilt and it malfunctions and causes the engine to fail....and if that fails the plane cant fly!!.......it may sumtimes cause the engine to burst!!.....thats why birds r not welcome at the airports!!Why it is problematic when some bird gets near to engine of any air-plane?
When bird/birds gets near to the Aircraft it can be sucked by the turbine engine. When the bird hits the aircraft body, which is covered with duralminium sheet can tear it apart because of the high velocity impact.

Similarly when it is sucked into the turbine engine it can shear the turbine blades and then the engine will fail. Failure of engine can cause major accident if pilot is not able to maneuver properly.

Therefore birds are not welcomed near the flying Aircraft. Why it is problematic when some bird gets near to engine of any air-plane?If a bird gets sucked into the engine it slows down the motor and sometimes enough for it to malfunction. Its like throwing a stick in bicycle spokes, sometimes the stick will break into shreds, but not with out doing a little damage and slowing the bicycle down, other times it completely stops the rotation and sends the bike end over end. Its the bigger birds they have to worry about, small birds are less likely to cause damage, unless there are large amounts. On the runways they use horns to scary away the birds. I believe mythbusters did a special on this very topic, their explanation would probably make more sense then mine. Why it is problematic when some bird gets near to engine of any air-plane?
A bird ingested in an engine may and will cause an engine failure -

In some cases - could even cause an engine fire -

We got severe damage to a JT9D-7Q engine on 747 I was flying -

Birds (1 or 2 birds ?) were ingested in engine at aircraft takeoff rotation -

We were lucky not 2 engines were failed by other birds -

Forced us to jettison fuel for 35 minutes (we were at maximum weight) -

Return to airport - bring a spare airplane for passengers the next day -

Hotel cost for 180 rooms in hotel for crew and passengers -

Ferry the airplane on 3 engines to other airport to get spare engine -Why it is problematic when some bird gets near to engine of any air-plane?It's not only birds that are near an airport that can be a major problem for aircraft. A squadron-mate of mine was approaching feet dry on a low-level navigation hop on the west coast of Florida from the Gulf and a flock of seagulls suddenly got airborne in front of him. I beat up the plane pretty badly and he was forced to divert to a near-by AF Base to inspect his plane for possible FOD damage. It can scare the crap out of the pilot, too.Why it is problematic when some bird gets near to engine of any air-plane?
Because you can possibly hurt the bird.. :(
