Suzuki Samurai SJ Question?

I'm debating between buying a Suzuki Samurai (probably the SJ series-I prefer the Safari look) or a Jeep Wrangler. I don't need lots of power, and would drive it daily, so the Suzuki looks better fuel-wise.

Can I get a locking differential for the Suzuki?

Basically I want a Jeep-like vehicle with a smaller engine/better mileage. Will adding the locking differential and a few other 4x4 upgrades reduce the mileage to the point where it would be a better idea to buy a Jeep anyways?Suzuki Samurai SJ Question?
Yes there are several locking diffs on the market. Check out the Detroit Locker, it seems to be very tough. I've had mine for 9 years and no problems.

A stock Suzuki Samurai will get about 28 or so highway MPG. The mileage starts to go down when you add lift and bigger tires.

Good luck!Suzuki Samurai SJ Question?
I had an 89 Suzuki Sidekick and a 94 Get Tracker (same car) great little mudders!! Light weight and don't get stuck easily like the bigger jeeps/blazers/broncos do. Good gas mileage too!!! Can't kill them little suzukis!!Suzuki Samurai SJ Question?
